This fabulous portrait of me, the WM, was done by darling daughter, Princess Pinky, when she was five. It’s a pretty close likeness, except I’ve put away my dangly earrings until the day comes that I’m no longer carrying someone under the age of three in my arms.
Along with Princess Pinky, our resident first grade genius, I’m the overtired and overproud mom of two boys, Prince Tatertot, four, and Sir Screamsalot, almost two.
Some days, being an at-home mom is the biggest blessing in the world (like when I read about another horrible day care accident/death/abuse story in the headlines) and some days, it’s the biggest challenge (will they ever sleep/get along/stop screaming? Or, will I ever work again/be someone besides Mommy, figure out why the couch is leaking chocolate milk?).
I’m happily married to the love of my life, Knute, a man who sees beyond the stress of motherhood to the me inside. I can honestly say he’s my best friend, not just my husband.
I’ve been a writer since the day I discovered an old Underwood Typewriter in our basement at the tender age of five. I pecked out my first stories and poems on that beast. Writing has defined me and saved me many times over throughout my life.
Thanks for checking out Writer-Mommy! Feel free to comment — I love to hear whatcha think!
