I agree! Making a collage of pics is a great idea! I am an affiliate of Smilebox and I have been spreading the word. It is so much fun. Stopped by to view your blog and to say "Hi"

From the early days of being a flickr member I already knew it was too public. While for some members who are professional photographers using it as a platform to show their wares, for everyday folks like us whatever photos we put up is for the whole world's consumption. I have since stopped being an active member, only been using it to show scenic shots I have taken in my occasional travels.

I started my father / parenting blogging essentially to connect with other parents & to learn from each other. I have opted to use obscure-ish photos to supplement my posts, to make it visually more interesting. It hasn't been easy to choose photos that will not end up backfiring on me, based on your abovementioned factors.

Thanks for reminding us to be cautious of our environs. Sometimes in the "euphoria" of making new friends online from blogging that we forget there may be others watching silently.

I'm a Girl Scout leader Nano-writer mommy too -- and stalled on the Nano thing. Argh. I thought maybe I'd do some catching up this weekend -- but guess what? So far, not at all. It doesn't help that after 5000 words I decided I hated my novel, either.

Thanks for talking about the book. It really only takes a few moms just an hour...then other moms start joining and before you know it the co-op is the life line of your 24/7

I actually meant to call you and tell you that our (okay, Scott's mom and dad's) GSP/Brittany Sadie is now with Packer and Bailey... as of Wednesday. Cushings and renal failure finally got to be too much. But I'm glad to know she will have some good playmates Up There.

Here's my latest find... use the gladware/ziploc (whatever brand) divided containers to put all the leftovers from one meal together... we usually only have 1/2 or one serving left. Then I don't end up with SO many containers and its easy to re-heat a meal for me or K. Love this part of your website!

Oh, my goodness! Wish I could send you a nice cleaning lady and a gift certificate to the nearest spa. (Heck, I wish I could do that for yself! Who am I kiddin'?)

My son has a "bucket," too, which doubles as his wastebasket when he's sailing calmer seas. This, too, shall pass...

I write in public places occasionally. There's my local Internet cafe, where, when DH & DS are home, I go to so that I can write "in peace," then of course there's my favorite carrel at the U. Everywhere else, it's the little notebook and pen, or the voice recorder on my cell (okay that's not writing) to quickly jot ideas that come to mind, or some sort of prompting note to remind me what the idea was when writing a full-fledged idea just isn't possible. As for people making fun of us writers-in-public places...they really shouldn't...for all they know, we're writing about them. ;)

I'm usually more productive in a public place than if I stay at home, where there are limitless ways to procrastinate and get interrupted. But if I can go out to a cafe and get a cup of coffee (free refills are a huge bonus), then I can stay there all afternoon and get things done.

As far as the stereotype goes, it's not a bad one to be a part of. I think the world would be a more interesting place with more would-be writers with laptops in coffee shops.
